Because His people had been  slaves in Egypt for many long years, God called Moses to go to Pharaoh, the country's king, to tell him to release them. But Pharaoh wa stubborn, and refused. So God sent all kinds of troubles upon the land, until finally Pharaoh was glad to set the slaves free.
