All teachers want their students to be confident, competent and creative users of mathematics. The heart of the Targeting Maths scheme is focused teaching to clearly defined outcomes, combining discussion with practical and written activities in a student book that is fun and easy to use. It is designed to develop a thorough understanding of mathematics, the series also tries to build every student's confidence and enthusiasm for mathematics.

Targeting Maths Student Books are very child friendly - filled with an interesting range of learning activities that will motivate all learners, whatever their talents. The development of this series has focused on the needs of children. We know that if you can grab children's interest and give them confidence, they are more likely to enjoy learning.

Features of the student book include:

  • programming: the book is laid out with four terms of topic-based units of work
  • teach and discuss: each topic begins with a focus page which includes a large exciting illustration that introduces
  • students to the new topic. These illustrations can be used as part of a class discussion, to build mental strategies and can also be revisited for revision
  • revision: There are two pages of revision at the end of each term's work
  • dictionary: a dictionary of mathematical terms used at this level
