brief HISTORY OF LLCI LIBRARY

In 1983, the school was established with an initial enrolment of 43 pupils from preschool to Grade IV. Along with this, the library was put up with an initial collection of 500 books. With the opening of Grade 5 and 6, the library was transferred to building A which became the Mini Library of Unit B (Grade 4-6).In SY 1984-1986,secondary curriculum was completed with the opening of fourth year classes. In SY 1988-1989, the library was transferred to the Administration building which was furnished with an air-conditioning unit and  acquired a computer with internet access. In the same school year, one of the PAASCU Pre-survey recommendations was to transfer the library to a bigger room.

In 2000, a new library was constructed at the second floor of the high school building and eventually transferred on the following school year.

In June of SY 2005-2006 the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) was materialized. On June 28, 2006 the main library extended their services to Kinder to Grade 2 pupils by providing a mini-library at the Building F . It was managed by a teacher during the regular library period.

In 2008, four (4 )computer stations were installed with OPAC and internet connection. Booklover's Club members donated a sala set made of bamboo  for the browsing area on the same year.

In SY 2009-2010, the school hired one library aide assigned in the main library to help the librarian in providing library service to the school community. In SY 2011-2012, the school hired a library aide that takes charge of the Unit A-Mini Library.

In 2012-2013, the school pursued the plan to have a separate library for the Unit B Grade 4-6 pupils which led to a conversion of faculty room into a mini library. It was an air-conditioned room where library aide was assigned in the area during peak hours to attend Unit B faculty and students.

In SY 2012-2013 to SY 2013-2014, the school had a library for every academic unit - - Main library was utilized mainly by the High School (Unit C) and two (2) mini-libraries for Kindergarten to Grade 3 (Unit A) and Grade 4 to 6 (Unit B).

In November 2013, typhoon Yolanda devastated Eastern Visayas and destroyed about 90 % of the LLCI Main Library's collection. In January 2014, the school resumed classes. The Unit B Mini -library was merged serving both Grade School and High School students. The salvaged damaged books still provide basic reference materials to students. Adaptation of a new library system called Infolib was realized and decided to start its process for future computerization on the circulation of library materials. The card catalog was also updated.

In June 2016, the Senior High School Library was blessed and inaugurated. In August 2016, the new library shared by Junior High School and Grade School was blessed, and its full operation started in September 2016 at the new school building.

In March 2020, Philippine schools and colleges were closed as a preventive measure of spreading COVID-19. This pushed the library staff to find innovative ways to support the learning and research needs of the school community without a physical library by transforming the traditional libraries to the present digital ones.

So, in June 2020, our library assistant, Miss Eileen M. Sevenorio created a library website which was officially published in August. Through this, we were able to launch the Home Delivery Library Service in September where students can have access to the collection and services and can check out books through the use of the website. The library website is still to be developed and improved by putting portal sites and promotional videos related to library services.

SY 2023-2024 marks the full usage of the INFOlib system, particularly the computerized circulation (borrowing and returning of materials) and the electronic way of taking library attendance of students, faculty, and staff by scanning their ready-made QR codes on a tablet.  Acquiring e-materials such as e-books is also done this school year.
